Shadaiya Mcrae

Shadayia started with The NJ ECC in the summer of 2022 as a Community Based Services direct care worker. She quickly moved up to the Housing Director position after working with Dawn Willis, The CEO, on the housing process.

She has assisted with successfully housing 32 individuals, and has also been the primary person applying for their benefits to help them sustain their independence in the community. She has assisted our individuals with obtaining Social Security Benefits, Food Stamps, Home Energy Assistance, and Security Deposits. She has also located and linked several individuals to local food pantries to assure their basic needs are always met.

Shadayia graduated from Fortis Institution for Medical Assisting in 2014, and has been working with the special needs population ever since. Shadayia gained her knowledge working in a dermatologist office, and various other jobs in the medical field since 2014. She has worked as a one-to-one in home servicing the special needs population, in group homes for individuals with Autism, in nursing homes, and in a well-known podiatrist office. Shadayia has utilized her experience with this inspiring population working with some of our more behaviorally challenged individuals, and works 15 hours of her week with a very challenging individual, who displays maladaptive behaviors that Shadayia handles gracefully and with the upmost care and respect.

Shadayia is grateful for the opportunity to engage and assist these amazing individuals of The NJECC, and is looking forward to growing along with the agency and within her role. She works well as a team player, and also plays a huge role at our Ramsey Program, where she assists her coworkers and brings her strengths to the table.
