Day Habilitation Program

Day Habilitation provides education and training to acquire the skills and experience needed to participate in the community. The activities and environments are aimed at skill acquisition and the ability for our individuals to live as independently as possible in their daily lives. Activities may include supporting clients with building problem-solving, self-help, social, adaptive, daily living, and leisure skills. This service, which is provided during daytime hours, does not include employment-related training.

We strive to provide our individuals with community integration as much as possible and maintain a consistent schedule of daily outings.

Our outings serve to assist with building social skills, continuing community integration, and increasing socialization. Our goal is to continue providing our in-house skill building out in the community. For example, we assist our individuals in making a grocery list before heading out to shop at the supermarket. We also take trips to the laundromat where we wash, dry, and fold clothes with the individuals. Our individuals are offered the opportunity to sign up for several groups taking place at program as well, including art therapy, music therapy, and a monthly visit to a local gym.

Day habilitation is not all work and no play – we go to parks, movies, restaurants, mini golf, museums, and more exciting places that bring our individuals closer to the community.
